Navigating the world of health insurance can sometimes feel like trying to solve a complicated puzzle. One of the most common questions we get asked at Walt Orthodontics is, “Does insurance cover braces?” We’re here to provide some clarity on this topic and help you understand the role of insurance in your orthodontic treatment journey.

Firstly, the answer to “does insurance cover Invisalign?” can be found here.

Insurance Coverage and Your Orthodontic Treatment

Insurance coverage for orthodontic treatment, like braces, can vary greatly depending on your insurance provider and the specifics of your policy. Some plans cover a significant portion of the treatment cost, while others may only cover a small fraction or none at all. It’s essential to understand your insurance coverage before starting treatment to plan your finances appropriately.

Typically, insurance policies that cover braces provide a lifetime maximum benefit for orthodontic treatment. This means there’s a limit on how much the insurance company will pay for orthodontic treatment over your lifetime. It’s crucial to note that this amount is not renewed annually, unlike other dental benefits.

The Impact of Age on Insurance Coverage

Another significant factor that can influence your coverage is age. Some insurance plans may only cover orthodontic treatment for individuals under a certain age, typically under 18. However, many insurance companies are recognizing the importance of orthodontic treatment for adults and are beginning to provide coverage for adult orthodontics. Always check with your insurance provider to understand their age-related policies.

Navigating Insurance with Walt Orthodontics

Insurance companies typically don’t make it easy to determine orthodontic coverage or to understand how they will reimburse you for orthodontic fees. At Walt Orthodontics, we will work with your insurance provider to help make the process as efficient as possible for you! You can read up on more information about insurance here.

During your complimentary consultation with us we will review your treatment plan along with your financial options. We pride ourselves on transparent pricing and clear communication. They will also ensure your payment option meets the policy requirements, and provide you with the forms required to receive your reimbursement directly and as quickly as possible.

In summary, while insurance can play a significant role in covering the cost of braces, it’s important to understand the specifics of your policy and how it applies to orthodontic treatment. If you don’t have insurance coverage, we will work with you to assist with options including low monthly payment plans.
